DESCRIPTION:How It Works: You will meet the group at Windy Acres Dairy in Prineville at 9am. After a round of introductions\, we will split into groups and get to work. We will end the day with lunch together enjoying products from the farm. \nWhat to Expect: Good times\, new friends\, and a boots-on-the-ground education about local farming practices. We love dogs\, but please leave them at home for this event. Our main task is to improve the fencing that surrounds the dairy so come ready to work. There will also be some lighter projects to meet the needs of all ages and abilities. \nWhat to Bring: Snacks and water\, heavy work gloves\, closed-toe shoes\, layers for the weather\, and sunscreen. Food will be provided for a light lunch or bring your own. We will have a hand washing station and sanitizer for participant use. \nAbout Windy Acres Dairy & Creamery: We are a veteran-owned\, local small business in Central Oregon delivering farm-to-table products like raw grass-fed milk\, butter\, ice cream\, and cream to our members. Additionally\, we make the best raw milk hard cheese in the region and are the only artisan cheese producer in Central Oregon. Our exceptional grass-fed beef & lamb and famous whey-fed pork\, none of which require a herdshare membership to enjoy\, are available throughout the year. Our garlic farm is certified organic by Oregon Tilth\, and we are devoted to building fertility on the farm through the practices of cover cropping\, compost application and crop rotation. DESCRIPTION:Mahonia Gardens is a one-acre market garden operating is Sisters\, Oregon\, dedicated to growing quality produce. We provide food to Sisters and Bend. Labor on the farm is done by hand\, using ergonomic handtools including broadforks\, the wheel hoe\, and digging forks to create and maintain beds. While we are not certified organic\, we use absolutely no harmful chemicals in our production – no pesticides\, herbicides\, chemical fertilizers or anything. 2022 will be our 10th season as a market farm. We grow around 40 vegetable crops\, as well as herbs and flowers. We sell primarily through our farm stand and through Central Oregon Locavore and Agricultural Connections.

We will be working with the Savory Institute beginning in 2021 to employ regenerative pasture management practices to further our knowledge of sustainable agriculture. \nWe believe that happy and healthy stock makes for happy and healthy families. \nThe ranch provides access to the stunning countryside setting of the Smith Rock area. We offer memorable ranch adventures such as school field trips\, hunting\, private events\, weddings\, and more. DESCRIPTION:Rainshadow Organics is a full-diet farm with dozens of varieties of certified organic vegetables\, herbs\, berries\, flowers\, pork\, chicken\, eggs\, turkey\, beef\, and grains on 200 acres. We are located 15 miles northeast of Sisters and 10 miles west of Terrebonne in Central Oregon. The farm is family owned and operated and we have been here since the early 1970’s. Sarahlee Lawrence grew up on the land and started Rainshadow in 2010. \nAll of the crops we grow are distributed within 50 miles of the farm through CSA programs\, local restaurants and grocery stores\, farmer’s markets\, and our own Farm Store which opened in 2017. We are proud to provide our community with locally grown food that is good for the people and our land.
