SUMMARY:4th Annual Faces of Farming Gala at Tetherow
DESCRIPTION:Do you love fresh\, nourishing food and the hard-working souls who make it possible?\nWe invite you to join us\, Friday\, May 3rd\, at The Tetherow Resort Event Pavilion for an evening of artful and delicious surprise\, designed to honor the hardy and dedicated people who grow and raise our food in Central Oregon.\nThis event will include a photograph narrative of our local farmers and ranchers\, a silent auction\, local wine\, beer and cocktails\, and an extensive menu showcasing the bounty of local farms and ranches brought to you by Chef Miguel and the culinary team at Tetherow.  \nThis years theme is Innovation in Farming. As casually observed by many\, and truly noticed by few\, farmers are the ultimate innovators. From fixing broken machinery\, to crafting complex security systems for curious livestock\, to gently tricking plants to a higher yield\, an extra month of production\, or an early germination\, farmers and ranchers are the ultimate craftsman. It takes a certain type of ingenuity\, or mad genius\, to contend with nature. And farmers have just that type of genius it takes. After all\, necessity is the mother of creation.\n \n\n“A good farmer is nothing more nor less than a handy man with a sense of humus.” – E.B. White\n“We have neglected the truth that a good farmer is a craftsman of the highest order\, a kind of artist.”  Wendell Berry\, The Gift of Good Land: Further Essays Cultural and Agricultural\n\n\nWe believe in the power of the land and the people who cultivate it for our well-being. At Central Oregon Locavore\, we know that the future of farming and local food will depend upon the support and encouragement that we provide to local farmers and ranchers. Faces of Farming serves to connect those passionate about our sustainability\, cultivates strong relationships and celebrates the potential in all of us.\n\n\nMenu\n\n\n Coming soon… \n\n\nTickets\nEarly Bird: $75 Locavore Member/$85 Non-Member until March 10th\nRegular Price: $85 Locavore Member/$95 Non-Member\n\nBuy a table! $600 seats 8 guests ($75/person)

SUMMARY:Rescheduled Meet Your Farmer at Joolz featuring Crooked River Bison
DESCRIPTION:The Meet Your Farmer Dinner Series is a wonderful way to really meet your local farmers! \nMeet Your Farmer dinners consist of a locally sourced\, gourmet meal hosted by and prepared by rotating local restaurants. During dinner you will be treated to a presentation by the evening’s featured farmer.\nAbout Joolz: Joolz is the result of an eclectic mixture of Chef Ramsey’s history. Born and raised in Beirut\, Lebanon; to his mother Carolyn; an American cowgirl from a grants pass hop farm & his Lebanese father Najib who met at Cal Poly where Najib was studying agricultural methods to bring to the middle east. The family was raised in Lebanon with firm roots in both cultures. \nAbout Crooked River Bison Ranch: The Crooked River Bison Ranch is located in the foothills of the Ochoco National Forest\, just 9 miles south of Prineville\, Oregon. We pride ourselves on being a small\, local producer of grass fed bison. Our ranch consists of several hundred acres of open pasture and rangeland\, with an abundance of native grasses and vegetation for our bison to feed on.  We raise our bison in the most humane and ethical possible manner. Our bison receive a diet of native grass and are never given steroids or hormones to artificially stimulate growth. When it comes time to harvest\, we only field harvest in small numbers to maintain a low stress environment. The extra care we put into our ranching practices ensures that the meat on your dinner plate is of the highest quality. We adhere to our strictly-defined ranching standards and practice the most ethical ranching methods so you and your family can enjoy the tastiest\, most flavorful bison meat available.  \n\n\nMenu \nAppetizer \nBuffalo carpaccio sumac arugula and shaved pecorino bison on the range \nSalad \ncourse dukkah blue cheese\, mesculin greens with indian fry bread \nEntrée \nBraised sirloin over smoky eggplant mashed potatoes and roasted tri-color carrots with feta and pepitas \nDessert \nWild huckleberry bake \n\nFull bar including cocktails\, beer and wine is available. \n$55 Locavore Member\, $60 Non-Member \n\n\nGet your tickets soon\, seats are very limited!
