CENTRAL OREGON EDIBLE ADVENTURE CREW
Central Oregon Edible Adventure Crew provides the experience of harvesting and gleaning foods on local
farms and sustainably gathering edible foods from the local wilderness. This program
works to engage and educate participants about ways to preserve local foods to allow for
year-long seasonal food consumption including home preservation classes with gleaned
foods and seasonal recipes.
The Edible Adventure Crew believes that eating locally doesn’t have to be mysterious, expensive, or difficult. There is great satisfaction in returning to the simplicity of things such as discovering new tastes, harvesting your own food and “putting things up” for the winter months.
Edible Adventure Crew is scheduling events for the summer! We are following guidelines from the Oregon Health Authority and limiting the number of participants to keep our community safe. Join us for a fun time outdoors!
Join us at Casad Family Farms for an afternoon of gleaning potatoes. We will be scouring the potato fields for left behind spuds and collecting them to donate to NeighborImpact. Participants will get to take home a sack of potatoes as a thank you for their efforts. This event is free but registration is required.
How it works: Meet us at Casad Family Farms at 1pm and head out into the potato fields. The main harvest has already been done but there are potatoes left behind that we will be loading into pallet boxes for the food bank. This is a family-friendly event, please leave your furry friends at home.
