COMMUNITY OUTREACH & EDUCATION
Locavore supports local food and local farmers for the health and benefit of the individual, our community, society and the planet.
Central Oregon Locavore was founded in April 2009, with the mission to educate our Central Oregon community about the benefits of fresh and nutritious food produced sustainably by local farmers and ranchers. In carrying out this mission, Locavore improves access to fresh, in-season, nutrient-dense local food to all members of the community.
Programs to Grow a Better Community
Locavore’s education, outreach, and gatherings serve to support sustainable food systems within Central Oregon while simultaneously contributing to the local economy, public health, an educated public, and a brighter future for the local community.

WWOLF
WWOLF (Willing Workers on Local Farms) gathers ‘packs’ of volunteers from the community to spend a day working on a local farm. Volunteers not only connect with the land, and their food, but see first hand what a day in the life of a farmer really looks like.

Edible Adventure Crew
Classes for harvesting and gleaning foods both on-farm and in the wild (ex. apples from neighborhood trees and potatoes left behind after machine harvest). Food gathering is often followed by on-site tours and tutorials which correlate recipes and ideas for home preservation using what was gathered—all of which gives participants a real-time experience.

Meet Your Farmer
Meet Your Farmer Dinners are a series of monthly experiential dining experiences that pair the farmers and chefs of rotating local restaurants. The chosen chef prepares the meal using as many of the featured farmer’s products as possible, supplemented by other local ingredients.

Small Farmer Support
Small Farmer Support Program has a mission to directly assist small farmers in growing their operations. Assistance with CSA and herdshare management, support for marketing and distribution, incubation marketplace.
