Coming Summer 2026
This is the next chapter of Central Oregon Locavore. Rooted in what farmers told us. Rising in response to what members asked for.
For years, westside neighbors have said:
“We need easier access to local food.”
“We want to walk to a neighborhood market.”
“We wish Locavore was closer.”
At the same time, our 2025 Farmer Audit told us:
“We need more year-round sales.”
“Farmers markets aren’t enough.”
“Stability matters more than ever.”
Discovery West is our answer.
Rooted and Rising
Rooted in the belief that small farms are the backbone of Central Oregon’s economy.
Rising to meet the moment, building new infrastructure that keeps local food accessible, stable, and resilient.
This is not rapid expansion.
This is mission-aligned growth.
Our first neighborhood satellite will be located on Bend’s Westside, in a new neighborhood, a small-footprint pilot designed to test scalable, walkable access to truly local food.
Small footprint.
Big on impact.
What This Means
A neighborhood marketplace that:
- Returns ~65 cents of every dollar directly to regional farmers and makers
- Creates more consistent, year-round revenue for over 150 producers
- Brings local food within walking and biking distance for westside families
- Strengthens Bend’s food security and regional resilience
This is not just another grocery store. This is infrastructure for farmers. Access for families. Protection for our regional food economy.
The Capital Campaign: Building the Infrastructure to Make It Work
To bring this neighborhood satellite to life, we are launching a community capital campaign.
We are raising funds for:
- Commercial refrigeration & freezer systems
- Bulk gravity bin systems
- Custom-built shelving & checkout
- POS infrastructure
- Electrical and structural installation
- Build-out costs to create a walkable, welcoming marketplace
This expansion is data-informed, community-driven, and carefully scaled. But it only works if we build it together.
Help Us Rise
If you believe:
- Local farms deserve stable revenue
- Food dollars should stay in our region
- Neighborhood access matters
- Community-owned food systems are worth protecting
We invite you to be part of this.
